12 Drams: #8 As We Get It Islay (61.7%)

These bottles always offer good value for money for cask-strength Islay whisky. Previously bottled with age statements (~8yo), these new ones pack a similar punch – always peaty, always fun, but the distillery is unknown!

  1. Here are my notes:

Nose: Clean, youthful peat mixed with a really big soot smell – pretty sure this is what a peat fire smells like once it’s gone out

Taste: Sweet yet slightly tart – lemon sweets? Pear drops

    Finish: Sherbert and Parma Violets

  2. Giles

Nose: lime chewits and a cooked breakfast.

Taste: very tangy to begin with, fading to smoke after a while. Fizzy cola bottles and bacon.

Finish is long hot and sour.

  3. Saskia

Nose: how a a wood burning stove in a little cottage on a damp day would make you feel – mm. Slices of a juicy pear.
Taste: Ooph – lovely and oily. Poached haddock for breakfast.
    Finish: long and tasty.
